JANET IS A SCOTTISH ARTIST, SPECIALISING IN PAINTING SCOTTISH DANCERS.
JANET WAS AN ARTS AND CRAFTS TEACHER FOR MANY YEARS, TEACHING OTHERS HOW TO DEVELOP THEIR OWN CREATIVE TALENTS.
WITH HER FAMILY ALL GROWN UP, IT WAS A NATURAL PROGRESSION TO FOCUS ON DEVELOPING HER OWN WAY OF PAINTING AND SHE SPENT A NUMBER OF YEARS STUDYING WITH THE OPEN COLLEGE OF THE ARTS ( O.C.A. ) AND AT LEITH SCHOOL OF ART.

WHILE WORKING ON AN O.C.A EXTENDED STUDY ON THE THEME OF 'DANCE', JANET BEGAN EXPERIMENTING WITH MIXED MEDIA TO CAPTURE THE MOVEMENT AND THE UNIQUE LOOK OF THE TARTAN IN SCOTTISH DANCE. HER AIM IS TO BRING IMAGES OF SCOTTISH DANCING TO LIFE, AS SOMETHING WE ALL ENJOY, AND TO INVOKE A SENSE OF PRIDE AND NOSTALGIA WHILE PUTTING A MODERN TWIST ON THE SPECTACLE OF THESE ANCIENT TRADITIONAL DANCES.

HER PAINTINGS CAN BE SEEN IN MANY GALLERIES THROUGHOUT SCOTLAND AND HAVE BEEN SOLD INTERNATIONALLY.
SHE IS REGULARLY COMMISSIONED FOR PAINTINGS WITH A SPECIFIC TARTAN AND FOR WEDDING PAINTINGS.
HER PAINTINGS HAVE BEEN USED BY ST COLUMBA'S HOSPICE FOR CARDS AND CALENDARS AND BY THE ROYAL SCOTTISH COUNTRY DANCING SOCIETY FOR CARDS AND TO ILLUSTRATE THEIR ANNUAL REVIEW.

ORIGINALLY FROM LANARKSHIRE, JANET NOW LIVES IN EAST LOTHIAN AND WORKS IN A STUDIO IN HER HOME.
